Leading Indicators

Leading indicators are used to measure an organizations safety performance. In the past we often relied on lagging indicators to measure our safety performance. Lagging indicators such as injury frequency, historical data that describes our safety performance based on the number of incidents we have had. The issues with this kind of measure are obvious. Leading indicators don’t use historical data as our measure of performance. Leading indicators look at the activities being conducted to help prevent incidents. Leading indicators include
  • Percent Safe
  • Near contact reporting
  • Supervisor Performance
  • Audit results
  • Program Monitoring
  • Training conducted
  • ETC
Global Training Edge has focused on two Leading Indicators
  • Measure of Performance(MOP) for Committees
  • Measure of Performance(MOP) for Employees
MOP For Committees
This program evaluates the performance of your safety committee. Once that is complete we assist the committee in the development of new measures.
