Supervisor/Manager Safety Certificate

Global Training Edge, in partnership with Safety Services Nova Scotia, is pleased to offer the Supervisor/Manager Safety Certificate, part of the HSP Designation HSP (Health & Safety Professional)
The Supervisor Safety Certificate program provides a strong safety leadership foundation for new and existing managers and supervisors within your organization. The program is based on 6 credits including Due Diligence for Supervisors, Advanced Incident Investigation, and Supervisor Skills.
- Due Diligence for Supervisors (2 credits):The objective of this course is to ensure that managers and supervisors understand the due diligence defense as it applies in the workplace. The program includes supervisor/manager responsibilities, the importance of documentation, what needs to be documented, and issues pertaining to bill C45(Criminal Code). The techniques used in the course can help to ensure the supervisor is able to demonstrate due diligence and more importantly assist in protecting the safety of employees in the workplace.
- Advanced Incident Investigation (SIIP) (2 credits):The participant will be immersed in the incident investigation process. The aim of the program is to ensure that supervisors and managers understand what is required to conduct an effective incident investigation. Included in the program is a review of incident investigation procedure, techniques involved in gathering information, incident analysis, and report writing. The program will also look at near-miss reporting and the development of a reporting culture.
- Supervisor Skills (2 credits):This program introduces the manager/supervisor to the basic elements of supervision. Topics covered in the course include leadership, communication, team building, problem solving, and dealing with difficult people.
- Instructional Techniques for Supervisors (2 credits) (optional):This program is designed to assist the manager/supervisor when providing instruction or training to employees or co-workers in the workplace. We cover lesson plan development, course objectives, evaluation, delivery techniques, and the principles of adult education.
