1. Assessment: (OPTIONAL) This consists of a 3-6 hour review of the organization safety system before the senior management overview. The intent of the assessment is to review the safety system within the organization and determine if additional issues need to be addressed during the training. We may also decide to customize the program to address specific program requirements. The assessment is an informal process. The organization does not receive a report and the program is not always customized. The assessment can lead to a focus on a Due Diligence issue such as discipline.
2. Senior Management Overview: Safety Leadership for the Management Team (SLMT) This is intended to ensure that the senior management team is familiar with the requirements of the program. They need to understand how the program works and what the supervisor will be looking for in the future to make the program successful. The overview will include a brief discussion of the leadership team and its role, time required and additional resources etc. It is recommended that management use this opportunity to consider the teams, term of reference. Senior managers will also be required to determine which employees will be involved in the program such as lead hands, union members, etc.
3. Leadership Team: (OPTIONAL) This team is set up to monitor the process and ensure that the resources are in place so that the program is successful. The leadership team will work on safety plans, goals and objectives, and measures of performance for all employees and the organization.
4. Manager / Supervisor Training: Due Diligence for Supervisors (DDS) This 2-day workshop leads the manager and supervisor through a process used to measure safety performance at all level within the organization. The training is completed using 3 training manuals. The training program covers the following topics: safety culture, legislation, due diligence and hazard recognition. The techniques used include; the principles of adult education including a lecture, group work and exercise. The student is required to complete a quiz at the end of the training program.
5. Employee Training: MOP for Employees (ME) This workshop will cover the responsibilities of the employee and the supervisor . The organizations responsibilities will also be reviewed along with goals and objectives. We will also discuss a measure of performance for all employees.
6. MOP Evaluation: (OPTIONAL) This evaluation will take place 3 months after the training to determine if the managers and or supervisors are using the material properly. Has the information been translated into the workplace? How well is the program working?
